2nd Lyceum of Xanthi 

The Students

 
 Our school has over 500 students, aged 15-18, who attend three grades (school years), i.e. A, B and C. There are common subjects, but there are other subjects which are peculiar to each one of three special directions (Theoretical, Positive, Technological), depending on which one each student has selected to attend. They are also taught foreign languages, English as a compulsory subject, French and German as optional ones. There are also other subjects they can select to attend, such as Theatrology, Architectural and Free Design, Aesthetics and History of the Arts.

The Teachers

 There are about 40 teachers, diligent, experienced and skillful, who do their best to help their students learn and use all acquired knowledge successfully in their lives.
 
The Library

There is a large library with over 5000 volumes of books, run by a specialized bookkeeper, who organizes activities and helps students find the books they need. The library is daily open to students and teachers alike, who can greatly profit from using it.

The Classrooms

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            The school has 24 classrooms, equipped with a PC and a projector, as well as a music stereo and a small bookcase. Each classroom is assigned to one subject taught, so each teacher always teaches in the same classroom, and it is the students who change classrooms each class hour, depending on what lesson they are to be taught.

There is a special Chemistry and Physics laboratory with all required equipment, as well as a Technology classroom, where students can practice making various constructions, and also two Computer classrooms, where they learn and practice on computers.

Outside the classrooms there are closets for each student, where they can put their personal belongings while they are at school. 

 

 

School yard

There is a very large school yard with basketball, volleyball and handball fields.

Athletics
 The school has a long-standing tradition of participating in athletics contests and winning first places and lots of cups decorate the school’s shelves. There are teams of football, basketball, volleyball and handball. Many of our students have outstanding achievements in field events at a Panhellenic level. The school has a good gymnasium for students to practice in.
